Evocative of a journey just beginning,
yet filled with flashes and signposts of the wisdom and experience
of one who has taken these steps over and over. This dichotomy is
the music of Kat Downs. Questions filter through the fog yet there
are glimpses of a grounded, focused singer/songwriter, a gypsy who
has come to "take it in stride".
Beginning as both a classically trained pianist and flautist, Kat
Downs eventually added the guitar to her repertoire. Singing was
something she honed without formal training; it is a natural gift.
Influenced by an eclectic mix- Billy Joel to Dire Straits, Ben Folds
Five to the Pet Shop Boys, Weezer to Leonard Cohen- Kat left Wisconsin
for California in 2001 and spent the next year creating the songs
that would become "Head of Revelations". Between the creative times
she performed throughout the Bay Area with her band "Good Natured
Mortals" covering alternative and classic rock, and recently joined
"Sparrows Point" - a theatrical heavy metal group. With her CD close
to completion, Kat continues to write, produce and perform.
Here is the true revelation- Kat Downs' musical journey implores
each listener to travel along.
